As an artist and designer, I find inspiration in the ever changing world around me. I employ a personal vocabulary of bold and creative imagery to express the mixed emotions and hard to explain feelings of the inconsistent world. Within this realm, my work varies from abstract to pop art, and I am continuously moving along the continuum between the two. I tend to work in single pieces or a variety of a similar display of the same message/s, as you can see within this exhibition of my set series.

Recently I have reconnected with my love of design and have been exploring ways to connect art and design. This has allowed me to develop not only emotional connections with the pieces but a technical aspect about them too.

My work reproduces familiar visual images, arranging them into a new conceptually design. While I use a variety of materials and processes in each project my methodology is consistent. Although there may not always be material similarities between the different projects they are linked by recurring formal concerns and through the subject matter. The subject matter of each body of work determines the materials and the forms of the work.

Freo's Art is the FEATURED ARTIST for March and April 2020

Jay's take on Freo's Art

Back when I started  strukture skateboards in July 2019, I did a call out for artists who would be interested in seeing one of their designs on a deck; and so on 23 July 2019, Jack (FREO) reached out. I was instantly in love with his rad, clean as, pop art style and couldn't wait to see what he'd produce for his deck design. I was also impressed that he had the initiative and courage to put his hand up, take the risk and want to be part of the strukture skateboards community, before anything had been established yet.

FREO has had to patiently wait til now to become one of our Featured Artists - and it was well worth the wait. Jack's design is such an awesome way to represent himself and bring something fresh to strukture skateboards. It has been a pleasure getting to know you and I want to thank you for seeing the vision early on.
